The film 'Firefighter' (directed by Kwak Kyung-taek) surpassed 'One Win' (directed by Shin Yeon-shik). It topped the box office on its opening day.
According to the integrated computer network for cinema admissions by the Korean Film Council, 'Firefighter' attracted 81,674 viewers on the 4th, ranking first among all movies. Despite having fewer screens (983) compared to 'Moana 2' (directed by Dave Derrick Jr.) with 1,171 screens and 'One Win' with 995 screens, it performed relatively well.
The film is expected to continue its box office success for the time being, with a CGV Golden Egg Index—an indicator of viewer satisfaction—of 93%. The story, based on true events, received favorable reviews.
'Firefighter' is inspired by the 2001 Hongje-dong fire disaster, depicting the efforts of firefighters in firefighting and rescuing everyone.
'Moana 2' ranked second. Its position fell due to the release of 'Firefighter' and other films, drawing 55,981 viewers on the day. The cumulative audience is 1,545,611.
'One Win' entered in third place. It was released on the same day as 'Firefighter' but did not surpass it. A total of 46,362 people watched this film across the country.
