Kim Tae-ri has broken her own highest viewership record once again with her breathtaking performance. tvN’s weekend drama “Jung Nyeoni” (written by Choi Hyo-bi, directed by Jung Jin) aired its 10th episode on the 10th.
According to Nielsen Korea’s data, this episode surpassed a nationwide household rating of 14.1%. The drama has once again exceeded its previous highest rating, which was 13.4% for the 12th episode, and the ratings are on an upward trend. It also ranked first in its time slot across all channels, including terrestrial networks.
“Jung Nyeoni” is steadily gaining popularity. It started with a viewership rating of 4.8% for the first episode. By the second episode, it had surged to 8.2%, and it has consistently maintained double-digit ratings since then.
In the broadcast, the crises and resolutions of Jung Nyeoni (played by Kim Tae-ri) were dramatically portrayed. She resolved to continue traditional Korean opera even while exhausted and worn out, with a tear-jerking narrative unfolding.
The whirlwind within the Maeran Opera Troupe was also depicted. Moon Ok-kyung (played by Jung Eun-chae) unexpectedly announced her retirement. She suddenly disappeared without greeting at the curtain call and left for the film industry.
The highlight scene was Yoon Jung Nyeoni’s “Chunhyangjeon.” She passionately sang a passage from “Chunhyangjeon” under the moon and stars with a rough and unsteady voice.
Even Yongnye (played by Moon So-ri), recognized Yoon Jung Nyeoni’s talent. Yongnye sang a reply song for the first time in decades, with emotions of regret layered over her rough and worn-out voice.
“Jung Nyeoni” is set in the post-Korean War 1950s. It depicts the competition and camaraderie surrounding the ‘born genius of sound,’ Jung Nyeoni, along with her brilliant coming-of-age story. The 11th episode will air on the 16th.
