SEVENTEEN received a plaque of appreciation from the Los Angeles (LA) City Council in the United States. Member Joshua accepted the award on behalf of the group. LA is the city where Joshua grew up.
The LA City Council invited Joshua on the 8th (local time) to present the plaque at City Hall. The award is given to organizations and individuals who have contributed to arts, culture, and the community. The LA City Council highly praised SEVENTEEN’s performances in the US and their ‘The City Project’. ‘The City Project’ is an urban concert play park.
It hosts attractions and events around the city before and after concerts. Starting with Tokyo Dome in Japan in 2022, LA is the sixth city. Joshua also shared his thoughts, saying, “It is very grateful and honorable to receive this award on behalf of the team,” and added, “I am happy to be able to promote SEVENTEEN in LA.”
He continued, “LA has emerged as a central city in the global entertainment industry with the vibrancy of people from various backgrounds. SEVENTEEN, composed of 13 different members, creates our own dynamic and creativity.”
On this day, LA City Council officials also attended to grace the occasion. Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson, Katie Yaroslavsky, John Lee, and Councilmember Traci Park listened attentively to Joshua’s speech.
Councilmember Katie Yaroslavsky praised SEVENTEEN as “a phenomenal K-pop group that has conquered the world” and said, “They have built a cultural bridge connecting fans worldwide beyond just showcasing fantastic music.” She continued, “SEVENTEEN has delivered a resonant message about positivity and unity.
They have inspired millions of people, and their influence continues to grow.” ‘SEVENTEEN The City LA’ highlights the group’s expanding influence in North America. Advertisements announcing their arrival in America were put up on two massive billboards in the city center.
Additionally, a commemorative party for The City was held at ‘Club Academy LA,’ one of the top 10 clubs selected by the LA Tourism Board. ‘SEVENTEEN The City LA’ started on the 7th and will run until the 11th. That evening, SEVENTEEN’s and CARAT (the fandom name) logos will be displayed on the Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica Pier.
Meanwhile, SEVENTEEN will conclude their North American tour at LA’s BMO Stadium on the 9th and 10th.
