Actress Ko Hyun-jung transforms into a star producer. Genie TV’s new Monday-Tuesday drama ‘Namib’ (written by Um Sung-min, directed by Han Sang-jae and Kang Min-gu) revealed its script reading session on the 7th. Ko Hyun-jung, Ryeoun, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Lee Jin-woo were present.
‘Namib’ signifies the meeting point of the desert and the sea. It follows the journey of Kang Soo-hyun (played by Ko Hyun-jung), a star producer who got fired, and Yoo Jin-woo (played by Ryeoun), a long-time trainee who got released, as they pursue their respective goals.
The script reading session was filled with passion. The actors were deeply immersed in their characters and the script. Ko Hyun-jung transformed into Kang Soo-hyun, the star producer. Soo-hyun shows contrasting sides at work and at home. Ko Hyun-jung naturally portrayed Soo-hyun’s vibrant facets and led the narrative.
She collaborated meticulously with the staff, discussing details before delivering her lines to build the character. Ryeoun took on the role of Yoo Jin-woo, the released long-time trainee.
Jin-woo is a character with definite talent but lacks self-assurance. To portray the idol trainee character, Ryeoun added gestures like playing the guitar and holding the microphone while reading the script.

Yoon Sang-hyun took on the role of Shim Joon-seok. Joon-seok is Soo-hyun’s husband and a former music producer. Yoon Sang-hyun added vitality to the scene with his signature style of natural acting, showcasing a professional side as a music producer.
Lee Jin-woo transformed into Shim Jin-woo, the son of Kang Soo-hyun and Shim Joon-seok. Jin-woo is a character with a hearing disability, communicating by lip-syncing to the lines of the other actors during the script reading. Ko Hyun-jung and Ryeoun paired as mentor and mentee.
Each time the unstable and uneasy characters collided and came together again, the two actors adjusted their intensity and made eye contact. Ko Hyun-jung, Yoon Sang-hyun, and Lee Jin-woo united as a family with different dreams.
Their dynamic interactions evoked real-life sympathy, drawing everyone in. Just like the dramatic encounter of the desert and the sea, the harmony of ‘Namib’ begins. ‘Namib’ will be available on Genie TV and ENA at 10 PM on the 23rd of next month.
