Actor Lee Seung-gi has embarked on a significant acting transformation. On the 5th, the production team of the movie "Big Family" (directed by Yang Woo-seok) released still photos of Lee Seung-gi. Lee has transformed into a Buddhist monk, even going as far as shaving his head for the role.
"Big Family" is a family comedy. Due to his son (played by Lee Seung-gi) becoming a monk, the owner of the famous dumpling restaurant "Pyeong Man-ok" (played by Kim Yoon-seok) is visited by charming grandchildren. The film portrays the unexpected cohabitation and the ensuing story.
Lee Seung-gi takes on the role of 'Ham Moon-seok.' Moon-seok is the son of Ham Moo-ok, the owner of the long-established dumpling restaurant in Seoul, "Pyeong Man-ok." He cuts ties with his father and becomes a monk. While gaining immense popularity as a superstar head monk, it's publicly broadcast on a Buddhist radio show that he has a hidden child.
Director Yang Woo-seok mentioned, "To portray the perfect son type Ham Moon-seok, we needed an actor who is genuinely smart, good-looking, talented, tall—an all-rounder. Lee Seung-gi was the first actor who came to mind."
Lee Seung-gi said, "Hearing that Kim Yoon-seok, an actor I have always deeply respected, was cast left me with little time for deliberation," adding, "When I thought about the great script, there was no reason to hesitate about shaving my head."
Previously, Lee Seung-gi showcased stable acting in his early works like "Match Made in Heaven" and "Love Forecast." He is expected to present an upgraded performance after teaming up with director Yang Woo-seok of "The Attorney" and "Steel Rain."
"Big Family" is set to meet audiences and will be released in theaters on the 11th of next month.
