Actor Kim Nam-gil is ready to meet viewers with the new SBS-TV Fri-Sat drama ‘The Fiery Priest’ Season 2. SBS released an interview with Kim Nam-gil on the 3rd. ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ is a joint investigation drama. It depicts the hot-blooded priest Kim Hae-il going head-to-head with the top drug cartel.
He plays the role of a priest during the day and a vigilante at night. Kim Hae-il takes on the role of the boss of the Angel Clan to carry out his dual roles. Kim Nam-gil introduced, “Kim Hae-il is still very angry in Season 2.”
The activities of the ‘Guvengeance’ (Lee Ha-nee, Kim Sung-kyun) were also highlighted. “They unleash synergy with their crazy partners. They have found their identity with definite team play,” he said.
Kim Nam-gil reunited with Lee Ha-nee and Kim Sung-kyun after five years. “It was clearly different from Season 1. Knowing the flow, we got along well without having to match up,” he explained. He referred to himself as a ‘madman’ and Kim Sung-kyun as a ‘madman wife’ on social media.
“It feels like a soul mate. I like this person and want to get closer,” he shared. He proved the bromance. “Kim Sung-kyun ate so much soup in Busan that they joked he could fill the sea,” he revealed, sharing the cheerful atmosphere on set.
A new villain was also hinted at. Kim Nam-gil stated, “I think viewers will be surprised by Sung-joon’s perfect villain role with a good face. He has a charming twist.” He continued, “I thought Seo Hyun-woo was a great actor with many strengths. He perfectly embodied the perfectionist villain ‘Nam Doo-hun’ in the previous work.”
Kim Nam-gil added, “I thought Kim Hyeong-seo would be strong due to his stage charisma, but he was gentle,” and joked, “The increase in madmen feels stronger.” He showcased his unique cheerful charm. “Our new Guvengeance seems so crazy. I even think, ‘What should we do about the Season 2 villains?’” he quipped playfully.
The production team commented, “Kim Nam-gil’s superb acting continues in Season 2. He will solidify the core of the drama,” and asked the audience to stay tuned. Meanwhile, ‘The Fiery Priest 2’ will air its first episode at 10 p.m. on the 8th (Friday).
