The Boyz will release their 9th mini-album 'DRAMA' on the 28th. Their agency has unveiled a Q&A session with all members regarding their comeback, highlighting the new album and title track points, as well as messages for fans.
It's their comeback after 7 months. Kevin expressed excitement, stating, "I'm thrilled to present new music right after the tour. This album will showcase a new sound and look from The Boyz."
The Boyz convey explosive ambitions in 'DRAMA,' urging the message to continue evolving by igniting the fuse. They chant to destroy set rules and pave new paths.
Jacob confidently said, "'DRAMA' captures the most intense side of The Boyz so far. We aim to present our fans with a new style from outfits to visuals."
Hyunjae added, "It literally expresses our will to pioneer a new path. We want to continually showcase a new side of The Boyz with a challenging concept rather than a familiar look."
The title track is 'TRIGGER' characterized by dramatic melody variations. It begins with an intense house electro-pop sound and transitions to a grand hip-hop sound.
Sunwoo pointed out, "The grand sound of the chorus and the intense, explosive choreography are the key points. I hope you pay close attention to the performance of 'TRIGGER.'"
World-renowned choreographers participated in the performance, led by Baek Koo-young of '1MILLION' and BADA LEE of 'BEBE,' the final winning team on 'Street Woman Fighter 2.'
The Boyz painted various colors with music themed around 'DRAMA.' The album includes a total of 6 tracks, featuring not only the title track but also songs like 'Bite Back,' 'bAd,' 'Hide and Seek,' 'Rewind,' and 'They See Me Dream.'
This year marks the 8th year since The Boyz’s debut. What has been their growth fuse so far? Jacob expressed, "The fans who have always been by our side have been the 'fuse' for our growth."
Lastly, the members summarized the new album in one word. New stated, "It's 'TRIGGER.' I hope this album causes a big impact and change," while Juyeon exclaimed, "Explosion!"

Q. It's your first comeback in about 7 months. How do you feel about it?
(Sangyeon) We prepared this album diligently even during the concert period after finishing our world tour. As much as we've put effort into it, I believe many will love it.
(Kevin) I'm excited to present new music right after the tour. With this album 'DRAMA,' I think you'll be able to see new sounds and looks from The Boyz.
Q. What new charm did you decide to show different from your previous work?
(Jacob) This 'DRAMA' captures The Boyz's most intense look yet. I think we can show our fans new styles not only in outfits but also in visuals.
(Hyunjae) I decided to pioneer a new path, literally. Rather than familiar looks, I want to continually show the fans a new side of The Boyz with a challenging concept.
Q. You revealed four teaser images representing the revolutionary 'Vanguard' and 'Pioneer,' the blue flame 'Flash,' and the rebellious 'Riot.' What new attempts did you make?
(Younghoon) I took a big challenge with my hairstyle. I tried a new concept, so I hope you look forward to the various appearances I can show The B.
(Eric) For the first time since debut, I’m making a comeback with black hair. I also tried a new style, 'one-cut', and I’m thankful to the fans for viewing it positively.
Q. Could you introduce the highlight points of the title track 'TRIGGER' from the members’ perspectives?
(Sunwoo) The grand sound of the chorus and the rough, explosive, and intense choreography are the main points. Please focus on the performance of 'TRIGGER.'
(New) As it's a song where dynamics stand out in each section, I think 'TRIGGER' is optimized for performance. You can look forward to The Boyz’s unique splendid performance.
Q. What did you focus on expressing in the 'TRIGGER' performance?
(Q) 'TRIGGER' might be one of the most powerful and difficult choreographies by The Boyz. Enjoyably watch the concept of the movements and lively acting, especially focusing on the dynamic formations.
(Juyeon) There’s a part in the pre-chorus, “bring back I want,” where I like the angle and feel of the movements. Look forward to it.
Q. What’s the key point to watch in the 'TRIGGER' music video?
(New) The conceptual universe and storytelling seem to be the points of interest. Also, this 'TRIGGER' music video features an unprecedented number of extras, making it possible to create a high-quality video.
(Juhaknyeon) Before the shoot, I heard there’s a scene in water, expecting just a little splashing. But we did an underwater shoot below one meter, which amazed me. It was challenging as a first attempt, but I’m proud it turned out well.
Q. Q was involved in writing for 'bAd' and Eric for 'Re-Wind.' What stories did you want to convey?
(Q) I’m always grateful for the opportunity to write lyrics thanks to the company. For 'bAd,' I thought first about the concept of the given song and wrote lyrics with words that fit the atmosphere.
(Eric) I participated in writing 'Re-Wind.' I usually get inspiration from everyday life or imagination. I worked thinking of the fans, wanting to always be with them.
Q. You first unveiled 'Bite Back' during the 'Generation II' world tour. What do members think are the killing points of 'Bite Back'?
(Juyeon) The rough, animalistic, and instinctive-feeling choreography in the chorus part is characteristic of 'Bite Back.' It matches well with the song and lyrics. It seems to be a song many fans look for when they want to see The Boyz’s challenging and intense image.
(Sunwoo) There’s a part where all the members spread their arms to both sides at the start of a choreographed sequence during the chorus. I think that’s the most ‘killing point’ as it provides a massive overwhelming feel at that moment.
Q. Now in your 8th year since debut, what do you think was the pivotal ‘growth fuse’ moment over the past 7 years that has shaped the current The Boyz?
(Jacob) The fans who have always been by us are precisely the 'fuse' allowing us to grow. The Boyz exists because of The B.
(Kevin) I think it must have been the 'Road to Kingdom' period. It was an intense competition conducted without an audience owing to COVID-19 but it solidified our belief and teamwork, enhancing our synergy. The efforts provided a precious opportunity to meet more fans.
Q. You’ve undertaken activities at home and abroad, racing through the year without a break. Could you share the most memorable moment this year?
(Younghoon) The recent 'Generation II' concert is probably the one I remember most. I felt energized seeing the fans worldwide, giving me a positive feeling that we could do our best at the 'DRAMA' comeback.
(Hyunjae) Every moment of the tour. It’s a precious memory to feel the fans’ passionate love directly.
Q. What goals do you want to achieve with this album 'DRAMA'?
(Sangyeon) The biggest goal is to enjoy this comeback healthily with The B.
(Juhaknyeon) I hope 'DRAMA' makes it on the Billboard charts! It’s my personal goal!
Q. If you had to express the mini 9th album 'DRAMA' in one word, what would it be and why?
(Sangyeon) The Boyz ourselves.
(Jacob) “A must-visit.” Each track is so distinctly good that you’ll want to listen endlessly.
(Younghoon) The Boyz themselves!
(Hyunjae) ‘New.’ I think you'll feel new charms of The Boyz!
(Juyeon) ‘Explosion!’ The excess energy seems to explode from the songs and choreography.
(Kevin) I’d like to call it 'Experience'! It's an album awakening senses without dull moments from the first to the last track, more than just listening or viewing.
(New) ‘TRIGGER.’ I hope it causes significant waves and changes.
(Q) 'Beginning.'
(Juhaknyeon) ‘Explosion!’ The song, MV, and choreography all encapsulate explosive energy.
(Sunwoo) A new beginning and end.
(Eric) ‘Magnificent.’ Everything from the choreography and MV to sound is grand.
