Jessi was embroiled in controversy for allegedly standing by during an assault on a fan by an acquaintance. It was reported that a minor fan was assaulted and she did not take active measures.

She continued, "I regretted it thousands, tens of thousands of times. I wish I could go back to that time," reflecting on each of her actions. Jessi said, "If I had taken a photo with the victim, if I had actively protected them, if I had gone to the police station right away, if I had properly apologized, the victim would not have suffered this much."

The Gangnam Police Station is investigating the assault case. Jessi attended for questioning on the 16th and reportedly explained, "I have no connection with the assailants. They are friends of a Chinese acquaintance of a producer I'm close with."
