Actor Song Kang-ho returns as a volleyball coach whose touch spells disaster. He is set to make his screen comeback with the sports film "One Win" (directed by Shin Yeon-shik). "One Win" portrays the journey of a professional women's volleyball team striving for their first win. The film tells the story of a coach who has never experienced victory, a team owner who doesn't care about winning, and players who don’t know how to win.
Song Kang-ho plays the role of Kim Woo-jin, a coach and former volleyball player. Woo-jin is passionate about volleyball but has a career winning rate of less than 10%. He has faced dismissal, expulsion, bankruptcy, and exclusion. On top of that, he has gone through a divorce. With the children's volleyball classes he was barely running now facing closure, he finds himself at a life crisis.
Team owner Kang Jeong-won (played by Park Jung-min) proposes to Woo-jin, "You only need to win one game in a season." This leads Woo-jin to encounter the "Pink Storm," a women's professional volleyball team on the brink of disbanding.
Regarding Kim Woo-jin, Song Kang-ho remarked, "He was once a promising player, but life didn’t work out for him. He resembles the aspect of all of us who experience failure and inadequacies in life. He feels familiar and endearing."
Through "One Win," Song Kang-ho is set to deliver his trademark realistic portrayal of an ordinary person, capturing the humorous journey of striving for the first win.
Song Kang-ho described "One Win" as "a sports movie as well as a growth story." Anticipation builds around how volleyball enthusiast Woo-jin undergoes change after meeting the "Pink Storm" players.
Meanwhile, "One Win" is set to be released this December.
