The drama ‘Flower of Evil,’ starring actor Lee Joon-gi, is being adapted into a stage play in Japan.
Studio Dragon held the ‘K-Drama Festival 2024 with Studio Dragon’ at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan, on the 12th.
They announced the production of the stage version of ‘Flower of Evil.’
The Korean drama is being adapted into a play by Japanese actors.
The theatrical production of ‘Flower of Evil’ is set to open in 2026.
It is produced by Japan’s Avex Pictures, a company specializing in video content and performance planning and production, which previously showcased the musical ‘Vincenzo.’
Producer Higuchi Yuka stated, “The choice was made because it involves mystery, suspense, and at its core, deep love and human drama.”
She added, “By conveying the story in a theatrical format, we aim to create a work that can move the audience’s emotions more deeply.”
‘Flower of Evil’ aired on tvN from July to September 2020.
While it struggled with domestic ratings of 5.7%, it was loved by overseas viewers.
Particularly, with the appearance of Hallyu star Lee Joon-gi, it gained popularity across Asia, achieving Netflix’s top 10 in 27 countries worldwide.
In Japan, it remained in the top 10 for nine consecutive weeks.
