Jimin and Jungkook, nominated side by side… MTV EMA, ‘Best K-Pop’ nominees

BTS's Jimin and Jungkook have both been nominated for Europe's largest popular music awards. On the 8th (local time), the '2024 MTV Europe Music Awards' (MTV EMA) announced that "BTS' Jimin and Jungkook have been nominated for the 'Best K-Pop' category."

The category was newly established in 2019, with BTS having the record for the most wins. This year, Jimin and Jungkook have been newly nominated as solo artists, elevating their status. Jungkook won two awards at the 2023 MTV EMA. He won 'Best Song' with his solo single 'Seven (feat. Latto).' He was also selected for 'Best K-Pop,' which honors the top K-pop artist of the year.

Jimin and Jungkook are also seeing long-term success on the U.S. Billboard charts. According to the latest Billboard chart dated the 12th, Jimin's solo album 'Muse' title track 'Who' ranked 26th on the main song chart 'Hot 100.'

'Muse' has been ranked 103rd on the main album chart 'Billboard 200' and 1st on the 'World Albums' chart. Additionally, 'Who' has placed on the Global Excl. U.S. chart at 12th, the Global 200 at 13th, the Streaming Songs chart at 20th, and Pop Airplay at 26th.

Jungkook achieved 81st place on the Global 200 with 'Seven' and 161st with the title track 'Standing Next to You' from his solo album 'Golden.' Each of the two songs ranks 45th and 100th on the Global Excl. U.S. chart.
