The movie 'Veteran 2' (directed by Ryoo Seung-wan) attracted 4 million viewers in just 6 days after its release. On the last day of the Chuseok holiday, it swiftly reached its break-even point of 4 million.
According to the integrated computer network distributor for theater tickets, 'Veteran 2' surpassed 4,015,65 viewers by 9 a.m. on the 18th. It added 1 million viewers in just one day after hitting the 3 million mark.
The previous film 'Veteran' recorded 4 million viewers in 9 days. 'Veteran 2' reached this mark 3 days earlier. It achieved this milestone much faster compared to 'Spring in Seoul' (12 days), 'Exhumation' (9 days), and 'The Outlaws 2' (7 days).
Hwang Jung-min, Jung Hae-in, and Shin Seung-hwan also released a thank-you video for hitting 4 million. The three took inspiration from the staircase action sequence and descended a high flight of stairs.
The actors of 'Veteran 2' expressed their gratitude by saying, "4 million viewers for Veteran 2! Thank you to the audience. Be careful on the stairs."
'Veteran 2' is a sequel to 'Veteran,' which was released in 2015. The previous film achieved an overwhelming box office success with a total of 13.41 million viewers. It also popularized lines like "Are you kidding me?"
The comeback after 9 years built much anticipation. In this film, Hwang Jung-min (as Seo Do-cheol) once again chases after the bad guys, with Jung Hae-in (as Park Sun-woo) joining with a fresh new face.
Director Bong Joon-ho praised 'Veteran 2' by saying, "It's a hammer of a movie. The pain of the protagonist resonates acutely in my bones."
Director Na Hong-jin also shared his thoughts, saying, "It's refreshing and cool," while Director Kim Sung-soo remarked, "It showcases the pinnacle of action."
