A 70-Year-Old Driver Who Drove with a Large Dog Hanging from the Trunk Said, "It Wasn't Intentional"

A driver in his seventies was caught by the police after driving down a road in Chungnam, Dangjin, with a live large dog tied by a rope in the trunk, stating, "There was no intent."

On the 6th, the Chungnam Dangjin Police disclosed that they are conducting a pre-investigation against Mr. A, the driver in his seventies, for the charge of driving with a large dog tied in the trunk of his vehicle.

Mr. A is accused of driving with the large dog hanging from the trunk at around 1 PM on a road in Daedeok-dong, Dangjin City, Chungnam.

Video footage obtained by the police shows that the large dog, estimated to be a 'Chow Chow', was tied with a rope in Mr. A's car trunk, dragging its lower body along the asphalt.

Due to the vehicle's high speed, dust was being kicked up from the ground, yet the driver did not stop the car.

A witness who reported the vehicle and driver to the police stated, "Other cars were honking wildly in protest, and at first, I was very confused about what it was. When I got closer to check, I was shocked to see the large dog hanging there."

The large dog tied in the trunk was confirmed to have ultimately lost its life. The driver claimed, "It's not my dog. I was moving with the trunk open because I was worried it might suffocate in there," adding, "It wasn't intentional."

The police are currently investigating the possible violation of the Animal Protection Act, focusing on Mr. A's route and circumstances from that day, and will decide whether to formally file charges against him after securing additional evidence.
