Decision Not to Disclose Identity in Family of Five Murder Case
The Southern Gyeonggi Police Agency announced on the 19th that they have decided not to disclose the identity of a 50-year-old male, referred to as A, who allegedly murdered five family members, including his elderly parents and wife and children.
The police made this decision considering the wishes of the other relatives of the deceased victims.
A police official explained, "Considering that there are other children and siblings among the victims' relatives, we have determined that disclosing the identity is inappropriate," adding, "We will not hold a committee to review the disclosure."

In particular, the potential for secondary harm to the families of the deceased victims was a major consideration in the decision to withhold the identity.

Circumstances and Motives of the Crime
A is accused of drugging his elderly parents, wife, and daughters in their teens and twenties with sleeping pills, causing them to fall asleep before strangling them to death at their apartment in Suji District, Yongin City, on the 14th.
He is currently in custody on charges of murder and family murder.
During police investigations, A reportedly stated his motive for the crime was that he had become deeply in debt after being sued for "fraudulent leasing" by contract holders while running a business related to apartment sales, and he felt he could not let his family bear the debt.
