Reunion after 48 years, overseas adopted woman returns to her family's embrace
A woman in her 50s, who was adopted overseas to France, achieved an emotional reunion with her biological family after 48 years, thanks to the help of her daughter.
On the 12th, the Busan Jin Police Station reported that Ms. A (53), the youngest among six siblings who was adopted overseas, met her two older sisters after 48 years.
According to explanations from the police and related officials, Ms. A's family, residing in Gangwon-do, became fragmented after the sudden death of their father in 1977, which made it difficult for them to make a living.

During this time, Ms. A was adopted along with her immediately older sister through an adoption agency to France.
In 2005, after meeting a Korean individual named B in Belgium, Ms. A had the opportunity to reunite with her family. However, at that time, B demanded money from both Ms. A and her family, leading to suspicions that Ms. A's family had been deceived by Ms. A and B. Consequently, the family reunion did not take place properly.
Suspicion of fraud
The family reunion achieved through the daughter’s diligent efforts
Despite this, as Ms. A continued to miss her family, her 18-year-old daughter decided to take matters into her own hands to locate them.
Ms. A's daughter planned her trip to Korea by obtaining adoption-related documents and documents that could prove their family connections, and arrived in Korea with Ms. A on the 28th of last month.
The mother and daughter obtained a family register containing information about the family prior to the adoption and visited the Busan Jin Police Station on the 7th of this month.

The police confirmed that Ms. A's third sister lived in Siheung, Gyeonggi-do, through resident inquiries based on the family register. Subsequently, with the cooperation of the Busan Jin Police Station and the Siheung Police Station, Ms. A finally met her family on the 11th.
An official from the Busan Jin Police Station stated, "There was a regrettable story where the family met in 2005 but could not properly confirm each other's presence. Thanks to Ms. A's daughter’s proactive efforts, the separated family was able to reunite."
