Drunk Truck Driver Hits High School Girl on Her Way to School and Flees the Scene
A man in his 40s has been arrested by the police after hitting a high school girl who was on her way to school with a 1-ton truck while drunk in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, and fleeing the scene.
On the 10th, the Hwaseong Western Police Station announced that they are investigating Mr. A for violations of the Road Traffic Act (driving under the influence) and the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes (aggravated punishment for fleeing drivers).

According to the police, Mr. A struck a 16-year-old girl, referred to as B, who was waiting on the sidewalk at a crosswalk while driving the truck in a drunken state around 8 AM the previous day, and then fled the scene.
At the time of the accident, B was on her way to school. It has been reported that she is currently in serious condition and receiving treatment at a hospital.
Drunk Driver Arrested Quickly Due to CCTV Analysis
Upon receiving reports from witnesses, the police conducted a swift investigation by analyzing nearby closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, leading to the arrest of Mr. A, who was asleep at home.

It was confirmed that Mr. A’s blood alcohol concentration at the time of the arrest was at a level that would result in license cancellation.
The investigation revealed that Mr. A drove approximately 6 kilometers from Ansan to Hwaseong while under the influence of alcohol. Notably, it is reported that Mr. A stated during the police investigation that he "did not know he had caused an accident."
