Pyeongchang Trail Run Participant Death Incident
A tragic incident occurred during the trail run competition held in Pyeongchang, Gangwon Province, where a man in his 30s suddenly collapsed and died.
According to police and firefighting authorities on the 24th, a man identified as A suddenly collapsed around 8 a.m. during the trail run being held in Hoenggye-ri, Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun.

Trail running is an outdoor sport that involves running on natural terrain such as mountains, fields, and forests, and it has recently gained popularity.
A medical personnel present at the scene immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on A, who was then handed over to the 119 rescue team that arrived shortly after.
A was urgently transported to the hospital in a state of cardiac arrest but unfortunately died during treatment.

About 2,000 participants took part in this trail run competition.

At the time of the incident, the weather conditions on-site were confirmed to be a temperature of 21.5 degrees Celsius and a humidity of 97%, indicating a very humid environment. Such high humidity can impose a burden on the body during outdoor sports activities.
The police stated that they are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
