Stabbing Rampage at Supermarket on Commuting Home… 60-Year-Old Woman Dies
A tragic incident occurred when a man went on a stabbing spree targeting citizens on their way home at a large supermarket in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, resulting in one death.
The assailant was seen calmly smoking a cigarette and making a phone call immediately after the attack, and police apprehended him on the spot for murder charges.

On the 22nd, the Gangbuk Police Station in Seoul announced that they had arrested a man in his 30s, identified as Mr. A, on murder charges. Initially, the police had applied attempted murder charges, but after one of the victims died, the charges were changed to murder.
The incident took place at around 6:20 PM the previous day at a supermarket near Mia Station on Subway Line 4 in Seoul. Mr. A, dressed in patient clothing, indiscriminately attacked two citizens with a weapon. The police received a report stating, "A man in patient clothing stabbed a person."
Both victims were women; a woman in her 40s was transported to the hospital and is in stable condition. However, the other victim, a woman in her 60s, ultimately died.

Smoking and Talking on the Phone Immediately After the Attack… Past Criminal Record Confirmed
According to police investigations, Mr. A was a patient hospitalized at a nearby orthopedic hospital and was found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident. He purchased the weapon at the supermarket and immediately unwrapped it to use for the attack.
Shockingly, immediately after the attack, Mr. A was witnessed smoking a cigarette and talking on the phone as if nothing had happened. This was reported through video footage by outlets such as MBC and JTBC.
He showed no significant resistance during the arrest, and the police are applying murder charges against Mr. A while investigating the exact motive behind the crime.
According to the police, Mr. A also had a criminal record in the past, but it was confirmed that he did not have any prior murder convictions. The police plan to closely examine Mr. A's mental state as well as the background of the crime.
