Dongduk Women's University Students Opposing Coeducation Sent to Prosecutors
22 students who staged an occupation protest against the transition to coeducation at Dongduk Women's University have been sent to the prosecutors.

On the 26th, the Seoul Police Department's Criminal Investigation Team announced that they had referred 22 students, including current students of Dongduk Women's University, to the prosecutors on charges of obstruction of business, refusal to leave, and property damage on the 24th.
The police received a total of 75 cases related to this incident, resulting in 38 individuals being booked, and among them, 16 were not prosecuted due to insufficient evidence.
A police official explained, "We selectively referred students for prosecution only after confirming criminal activities through objective materials such as closed-circuit television (CCTV)."
Investigation Continues Despite School's Withdrawal of Complaints
Initially, the university claimed that the damage caused by the occupation protest amounted to as much as 5.4 billion won and filed a complaint against the student body president, among others, with the police; however, the complaint was withdrawn on the 14th of last month.

Nevertheless, the police continued their investigation, as charges like property damage and obstruction of business are subject to criminal prosecution regardless of whether the victim desires punishment.
This incident has garnered attention as a case of conflict among university members escalating into legal disputes, arising from the students' protests against the university's decision to transition to coeducation.
The prosecutors are set to decide on whether to indict the students who have been referred.
