A man in his 20s has been fined by the court for illegally breaking into the vacant residence where NewJeans members used to live, stealing items, and taking photos of the interior.

In the judgment, the judge pointed out the severity of the crime, stating, "The defendant repeatedly broke into the premises and stole items, as well as took photos of the interior without consent and posted them online."

However, the court explained its sentencing rationale, mentioning, "At the time of the break-in, the location was a residence where the celebrity no longer lived, suggesting that the concern for direct invasion of privacy was relatively low."

Details of the Crime and Prosecutor's Request

Mr. A is accused of illegally breaking into NewJeans' former residence located in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, twice in December of last year.

During this process, he was found to have stolen items such as hangers and banners, and took photos of the interior to post online.

At the time of the break-in, the residence was actually not being used by NewJeans due to a dispute with their former agency.

The prosecutor sought a one-year prison sentence for Mr. A in June; however, the court chose a fine, considering that he admitted to all charges during the investigation and that the amount of damage was minor.

Meanwhile, NewJeans (NJZ Hanni, Minji, Hyein, Haerin, Daniel) attended a hearing on the 7th at the Seoul Central District Court in Seocho-gu, Seoul, regarding "Adore, a petition for the preservation of agency status and a prohibitory injunction on contract signing."
